Students worked with Femmie Rivard who is a Groove Instructor. What is Groove? As Femmie states, “GROOVE is a dance-fitness program that encourages children to explore and discover their own unique way of moving through imagination and simple moves. Since our philosophy is that there is no right or wrong way to dance, kids are given a healthy experience that not only builds confidence but also fosters empathy and creativity.”

Last Names


Most students have mastered recognizing, identifying and printing their first name, so now it’s time to learn their last name. Students are enjoying saying their last name and their friend’s last name.

String Art


After reading, Just how long can a long string be?! written by Keith Baker, students manipulated string into anything they wanted. They could use as much string that they liked, in as many colours available. Their ideas ranged from flowers to spaceships to volcanoes erupting.

DJ Cool

Is there a DJ in the house? Students had a blast working this turnable. They have lots of options to showcase their musical artistry. There are different instruments, styles of music and technical enhancements. Once students are satisfied with their creation, they are able to record it and share it with others. One student was inspired to start writing his own songs.

Spring Flowers

The first Spring flowers are starting to appear. This bouquet of flowers was made with Kinnex pieces. After the flowers were arranged, they were used in a gourmet restaurant.

Spring Inquiry


Students arrived to see Spring items in and around our class to stimulate their thinking and imagination. Our next inquiry is exploring the idea of ‘Living Things.’ Spring is the perfect time to see living things springing to life.
